The tail is the whole reason children stay with a turkey page. Every fanned design here gives you separate feathers rather than one shaded mass, so there is a decision to make on each one: a colour per feather, or a pattern that runs across the whole fan. Design 10 takes that furthest with different patterning inside each feather, and design 8 puts the bird back-on so the fan fills the sheet.
Ways to use these
- Count the feathers first. Before any colour goes down, count them out loud. It turns the page into a number activity for a four year old without feeling like one.
- One turkey, four attempts. Print design 1 four times and try warm colours, cool colours, one colour in shades, and stripes. Same outline, four completely different results, which is the cheapest way to show a child what colour choice actually does.
- The hand turkey for the youngest. Design 9 is the traced hand version. It has a handful of broad feathers instead of a full fan and finishes in about ten minutes.

Which is the simplest turkey here?
Design 5, the chick. Round body, short tail, no wattle detail. Design 19, the waving cartoon turkey, is the next easiest.
Are any of these detailed enough for an adult?
Design 10 and design 15. The patterned tail and the single large feather both have fine internal work that rewards pens over crayons.
Do these print well in black and white only?
Yes. Every design is pure black line on white with no grey fill, so a draft-quality mono print loses nothing.
Is there a turkey without a Thanksgiving theme?
Several. Designs 3, 11, 13, 17 and 18 are just birds, with no holiday props at all.
