Elves are only interesting when they are doing something, so all twenty designs here are mid-task: hammering (3), painting a rocking horse (9), sorting a sack of letters (8), sliding down a rope (16), riding a candy cane like a hobby horse (6). Ways to use these
- Use them as a December countdown. Twenty designs is roughly one a day through the first three weeks of December. Print the set once and hand one out each morning.
- The workbench pages take longest. Designs 3, 9 and 10 have tools and half-built toys in them, so they have the most small shapes. Save those for a longer sitting.
- Good for name labels. The clipboard design (14) has a list on it. Children usually write their own name on it first.
Every design downloads as a US Letter PDF that also scales cleanly to A4 with “Fit to printable area”. Print in grayscale, there is no color in the files. Are these based on any particular book or product?
No. Every design is original artwork, and nothing here is drawn from a branded character or a shelf sitting toy. We do not publish pages based on branded properties.
Are the elves children or adults?
Deliberately ambiguous. The proportions are short and round rather than childlike, which is the traditional workshop elf rather than a small person.
Which are simplest?
The hat and shoes still life (17) and the face portrait (4). Both are a handful of large shapes with no background.
